FAQ

Can I wirelessly stream music to my record player from a Bluetooth device?

Every Victrola player has Bluetooth-Input capabilities, meaning you can connect any
phone or streaming device to your Victrola to play wirelessly.

How do I connect a wired speaker to my device?

If applicable with your model, a wired speaker can be connected via RCA cable. For
Amplifier device with this input, insert the white and red plugs on the RCA cable into the
unit. Insert the opposite end into the amplifier device. Be sure to connect the white plug
to white jack and the red plug to the red jack or this connection will not work.

How do I play 45s on my record player?

First, take the 45 adaptor and place it over the center of the turntable. Then, change the
speed to 45 on the speed selector located to the right of the tone arm. You can now play
your favorite 45’s!

How do I set up my record player?

Start by unboxing your record player and making sure you have received all the correct
pieces. Make sure to find a straight, level area to place your record player as any
slanted surface can cause an issue with the player skipping. Plug in the power cord to
the appropriate power supply and into the back of the player. If your records are not
playing properly or the turntable is not spinning, then please try adjusting the screw on
the back of the turntable by turning it a quarter of a turn each time and then try playing a
record.

Why is my turntable humming?

This might be a result of feedback from other audio/electronic devices that are sources
of static and or vibrations. It is advisable to Keep your turntable on a flat, sturdy, level
surface and to use only one piece of audio equipment within the outlet. Another
possibility would be that the transportation screw is not fully loosened. Please double
check the transportation screw and fully loosen it to remedy the humming.

Why are my speakers humming?

This can be a result of electrical interference such as a phone near by the speakers or
ground loops. A ground loop in home stereos typically occur when turntables are
plugged into different electrical outlets than the amplifier. Please move the turntable
and/or speakers to a different outlet. Please select different inputs to confirm the
humming is on each input. Please double check all wire inputs are correctly seated. If it
is a continued issue, please reach out to us directly.

Why is the platter wobbly?

This can be a result of electrical interference such as a phone near by the speakers or
ground loops. A ground loop in home stereos typically occur when turntables are
plugged into different electrical outlets than the amplifier. Please move the turntable
and/or speakers to a different outlet. Please select different inputs to confirm the

How do I reset/reboot my unit?

To reboot your unit, simply unplug the unit from the wall outlet and let it rest for about 6-
8 hours. After you plug the unit back in, try the below mentioned steps for continued
troubleshooting.

My record player is playing too fast or slow

Adjust your record player to 33 referring to the product’s manual. If you wish to adjust it
to 45 RPM, please use the 45 RPM disc and adjust your turntable to 45 RPM using the
manual. Finally, if you need to play at 77 RPM, you will most likely need to hold both
buttons, the 33 and 45 to reach 77 RPM. Also, clean the vinyl and ensure it is not
skipping using the above methods.

How long do needles typically last?

Needles can last up to 50-300 hours depending on the condition of the records and unit
purchased (needle wear will be increased playing faster records such as 78 RPM
records). We recommend cleaning your needle by using compressed air or a clean
paint brush to remove dust and debris as needed.

Where can I purchase replacement needles?

Needles can be purchased on our website here, or by contacting our Customer Service Team.

Which needle goes with my record player?

View our compatibility chart here.

How do I install a replacement needle?

Instructions on how to properly install needles are available here.

How should I clean my wood record player?

Remove dust with a clean lint-free cloth semi-regularly to ensure no dust is coating the needle and internals. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain using a furniture polish rather than an aerosol cleaner.

How should I clean my composite plastic record player?

Remove dust with a clean lint-free cloth semi-regularly. In order to clean the unit, we
recommend a slightly moistened towel to remove build up as well as a dry cloth to
remove any extra moisture.

What is the best way to clean / handle my vinyl records?

We recommend cleaning your vinyl with a lint-free cloth upon finishing your listening
session.

When handling your vinyl, ideally you would want to avoid touching any part of the vinyl
with a playable groove. Instead, handle the vinyl carefully by the edges and inner label.

What is the best way to store my vinyl records?

Store your vinyl in a clean, cool, dry place avoiding high temperatures and humidity
which may cause warping.

Never store your records horizontally on top of one another because of possible
warping. You can find Victrola vertical storage crates and stands in our accessories
collection
.

Do not allow your vinyl to become loose inside the jacket. Store Vinyl in an inner sleeve made of paper to better protect your music.

What’s the best way to store my record player?

Keep record players in clean, dry locations. Keep all accessories with your unit such as
the manual, power adapters, needles, etc. Do not stock anything on top of your vinyl OR
record players.

Cheap Build and Cheap Sound

This player was really appealing because of its portability and affordable price, but evidently you get what you pay for. Inside the box is a precariously suspended, light plastic player which makes it nigh impossible to balance. The result is a distortion in the sound which cannot be fixed on hardware this cheap. While its speakers can be used to stream music digitally from a phone or computer through Bluetooth, you can find better quality speakers for less which do the same. If you want to listen to your records, invest in a proper turntable instead of this gimmick. If you want an affordable toy for your kid, or a small conversation starter to bring to a party and keep in the background, maybe spend $60 on this.

OK Player

Received the Journey + in a simple brown cardboard box, not the slick glossy graphics retail box which I think is very cool The overall function of this player is as expected. I went with the + version so I could use Bluetooth Out to connect to other speakers. The speakers in this player are a bit tiny to my ear. The front latch does not give confidence that it will stay closed and secure, very flimsy. I paid too much for this player because of the expensive shipping, but I wanted the black color and the local retailers did not have it in black.

pretty much get what you ay for

i got this as a gift for christmas. The looks are very nice and not over top too much. But since it is a suitcase one, the speakers are smaller. I have no idea if it was mine, or the records i was playing. I have played three so far. 2 of which being over like 10 years old, and the was like.. distorted? I even played a new record my mom got today, and that even sounded not right. I don't know if its the speakers or the needle, because when i did bluetooth, it was perfect. so I'll see if i need a new needle. Which is most likely my problem.

Gets the Job Done

I have a stash of old 45's that are not in good condition and wanted something to play them on without ruining the needle on an expensive turntable. Make sure you get the one that says it connects OUT to a bluetooth device. If it doesn't say that then the record player acts as a bluetooth player and plays from your external devices(totally useless since the speakers are not great). It's a lot of fun. I am not playing my good albums on it though. It may be ok, but not taking the chance.

Terrible product, broken out of box.

Purchased for my brother for Christmas 2022 from Best Buy as a starter record player. Product did not work at all ever, turntable does not spin, speakers do not hum, and tone arm does not move. Very disappointed in the awful quality of this despite the $80 price point, unable to return as packaging does not allow product to be removed without damaging box. will not be making further purchases from Victrola, expected more from a household name. Would give zero stars if I could.

Support??

We received a Journey + as a gift at a Christmas party and it worked great for nearly a single side of a record, and now audio is only heard via bluetooth speakers. I emailed Victrola for replacement/repair support and was told I'm out of luck without taking it to the original retailer. I'm dissapointed as I really like this thing and expected a bit more support when it failed so quickly.

If you like music, don't buy this turntable!

This unit doesn't sound so bad when you listen to the onboard speakers, but hook it up to a good hifi system and you'll hear how bad it really sounds. Wow and flutter is off the charts. The unit has a preamp in it so you have to hook the rca inputs up to a regular line in input instead of the phono input. It still sounds terrible. This is a little novelty turntable. Break it out when a few friends come over and show them how cool it is. When you want to listen to music for enjoyment, this unit is not the one to use. I just can't stress enough how bad this turntable sounds. I got it as a christmas gift so I have to pretend I like it, but I'll never listen to it. I will never go through the effort of actually getting a record out of the sleeve to hear it like this victrola plays it. Sorry, but if you like music, this is not the item for you. If you like showing off that you have something unique and cool, go ahead and give it a try.

No, I do not recommend this product.

As expected

Overall this player meets expectations. It operates as described, I went for this model because it has Bluetooth in and Bluetooth out. This is critical if you want better sound during playback. The speakers in the player have a tiny sound. The build quality is Ok, but the font latch is flimsy and does not give confidence that it will keep the player secure and closed. I purchased this directly from Victrola, which has a very high shipping cost. The retail store product comes in a nice glossy box with nice graphics. If you buy directly from Victrola, it comes in a brown cardboard shipping box. The return and restock fees are rediculous. I paid about $20 more for this player buying it from Victrola, than just buying it from one of the large retailers that have a much better return policy. I my case, I wanted the black colored Journey +, and the retail stores did not have that color in stock at the time. Time will tell if this player will hold up and not be problematic.
