At Victrola, we are committed to bringing lifelong music memories into every home. Our employees are passionate about music, and believe music defines our moments, pressing them into our subconscious. The warm, imperfectly perfect needle on a record transports us to those places in our individual and collective history, with a nostalgia more powerful than simple recollection.
We've curated those music memories for you, featuring a few of our employees every month. Stop by and get to know us, and perhaps take our recommendations for a spin. We're certain you'll find some music memories to share with us.
Nick Caputo, Creative
This is a recent album I’ve learned to love during quarantine 2020. My college friend recommended it and I really took to it. I’ve always liked Bob Dylan and this album is the first I loved all the way through. I took a road trip to my college town this summer and this album was on the playlist. It’s old folk, acoustic rock style just hit me hard and got stuck to my bones.
One of the greatest albums of all time! When I inherited my parents old record collection, this was one of the records I knew was special in my family. My dad is a huge eagles fan so I knew it would be one of the records that had been used a lot. Unfortunately time took a toll on it and it was too warped and scratched from years in a basement. It is on my top list of re-adding to my collection.
Gwen Mayers, Commercial Operations
First concert was Elton John at Saratoga Performing Art Center (SPAC) in 1982.I remember hearing “The Bitch is Back” and was an Elton fan ever since.
“Wake Me Up When September Ends” and this entire album had a huge impact on me during a very difficult time in my life.
Carin Frenchman, Commercial Ops
Alanis Morissette: Jagged Little Pill
Listened to this over and over and could totally relate to the emotions expressed in her music. Would listen with friends before going out.
Dave Matthews: Under The Table and Dreaming
I had just met my husband and when I found out he had an extra ticket to their upcoming concert, I pretty much invited myself.
Karina Ramirez, Operations
Billie Eilish: Don't Smile At Me
I love Billie Eilish so much that I must say I listen to her songs at least once a day. I love her unique style and her soothing voice.
When this album came out I listened to it in it’s entirety the day it was released. I have been following Selena since she started in Disney, and I absolutely love this album as it demonstrates her growth as an artist.
